Skydiamond
Based in the Cotswolds, Skydiamond is on a mission to create the world’s most sustainable diamonds, and as such environmental protection is a central pillar in this jewellery manufacturer’s values.
The company has led the way by producing the world’s first certified carbon-negative diamonds. The carbon they contain is taken from the atmosphere, the energy used to make them comes from wind and solar, and the water required for the process is captured rainwater. Skydiamonds are chemically identical to mined diamonds, but come with none of the environmental damage and other negatives that result from mining. They are also eco-friendlier than standard lab-grown gems.
Skydiamond decided to join the GreenCode journey as the accreditation aligns with its values and the GreenCode Standards cover key areas relevant to the business and what the company aims to achieve in its operations. It provides Skydiamond customers and the industry with independent verification of the company's sustainability practices. The business is powered by green energy, waste is monitored and managed, product packaging is recyclable, water conservation measures are in place and low carbon travel and plant-based food are encouraged for staff.
GreenCode supported Skydiamond with information and advice as the company worked through the actions to achieve GreenCode membership, with a straight-forward pathway that concluded with an informative survey process with the external auditors, Energise.
As Skydiamond grows, the company continues to seek the most sustainable route in anything it does.
We are delighted to be awarded the prestigious GreenCode Accreditation. This is down to continuous improvements and conscious operations by the dedicated Sky team – actively practicing our ‘another way’ mission, to live our lives sustainably without giving up what we love or need.
